Post-renovation cleanup in Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills is a dust job. Right Key Cleaning removes the fine residue a remodel leaves on trim, floors, cabinets, and the rooms that dust drifted into, for homes across Oakland County, MI. The construction crew hauls debris before we arrive, we clean what remains, and we are not a lead abatement firm if older paint was disturbed during the work.
Why remodel dust is a different clean
Drywall dust is fine. It rides on air, settles on every horizontal surface, and sticks to a damp cloth in a gray film. It gets inside cabinets that were left open, onto closet shelves, into light fixtures you can reach, and along the top of door casing. A weekly house clean is the wrong tool. Wiping a kitchen counter and mopping once will look acceptable until the next draft puts the film back on the table. Post-construction cleaning is the service built for that residue. A deep cleaning is the closer cousin for a lived-in home that needs a reset without construction dust. Name which one you have.
Large houses in this part of the county give the dust more places to hide. More bathrooms, more glass, more built-ins, and a longer run of trim mean the film is not confined to the room that was gutted. Cranbrook is the landmark people use when they describe the Bloomfield Hills side. The houses nearby are often big enough that a “quick wipe of the new kitchen” leaves the bedroom hall untouched. Tell us which rooms were in the work zone and which rooms were only downwind.
What has to happen before we start
Debris is not our job. Lumber offcuts, drywall scraps, flooring boxes, and bags of trash should be gone. We do not haul construction waste, and we do not pull nails as a carpentry punch list. Floors should be clear enough to walk. If the contractor is still sanding, the clean we do on Tuesday will need to be done again on Friday. Say so. A two-pass plan is normal: a first dust after the heavy work, and a final pass after the last sanding and touch-up paint.
Water and power need to be on. We need to know which finishes are new and which are original. Fresh polyurethane and a just-cured stone sealer can hate water or a cleaner that would be fine on an old counter. Leave the product the installer recommended if there is one. Paint that is still tacky is a reason to wait, not a reason to wipe through it. Appliances that were installed mid-remodel get an exterior wipe. Interiors are in scope only if you ask and they are empty of protective film and manuals you still want.
Pre-1978 paint and the limit of a dust clean
Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills have older houses next to newer additions. If the home was built before 1978 and the remodel disturbed paint, read the EPA Lead Renovation, Repair and Painting rule with the contractor who did the disturbing. That program is aimed at firms that sand, scrape, or cut painted surfaces. It is not a maid service. We do not scrape, sand, or abate lead. A cleaning visit does not certify the house as lead-safe.
The same boundary is on the page about cleaning older homes in Royal Oak and Ferndale. Those cities have more bungalows. These cities have more large renovations. The rule for us is identical. Household dust after a job site is closed up can be cleaned. Active paint removal cannot be laundered into a housekeeping visit. If you are unsure whether paint was disturbed, ask the contractor before you book us as the last step.
Dust in offices is a different checklist
Some projects in this corridor are not houses. A suite near Big Beaver or a small office that just replaced flooring needs the office cleaning checklist for Troy and Southfield, not a residential room list. Desks, restrooms, and after-hours access replace bedrooms and linen closets. We still do not clean medical or dental offices, including a clinic that just renovated. A standard office after construction is in bounds when the debris is gone. A treatment room is not.

When you request the quote, send the city, the number of rooms in the dust zone, whether the house is empty, and the date the dusty trades finish. Mention stairs, new stone, and any room that must stay closed. We bring supplies suited to a dust pass and we can use a cleaner you set out for a new finish. The estimate covers the cleaning. It does not cover haul-away, paint repair, or a lead clearance test. If the site is still a work zone when we arrive, we will say what we can finish and what has to wait.
Questions people ask first
Do you haul construction debris after a remodel in Birmingham or Bloomfield Hills?
No. The contractor or a haul-away crew should remove scraps, boxes, and bags of waste before the cleaning visit. We take fine dust off surfaces, floors, trim, cabinets, and the rooms the dust drifted into. We do not pull nails or patch paint. If sanding is still underway, the first clean will not hold. Book after the dusty work ends, or plan a second pass after the last sanding.
Will a post-renovation clean make a pre-1978 house lead-safe?
No. We are not a lead abatement firm, and a cleaning visit does not certify a house as lead-safe. The EPA renovation rule applies to firms that disturb paint in pre-1978 homes. If paint was sanded or scraped, ask that contractor how the work was handled. We can clean residual dust after the site is ready. Tell us the age of the home and whether paint was disturbed.
